I love all things fantasy, horror, romance, and speculative, as well as all the subgenres that fall within them. If your book can make me laugh, cry, hide under my blanket, or stare up at the ceiling after I’ve finished reading, I want to see it. I’m also a huge fan of genre blends of any of the genres listed above, so please send me your dark fantasy, horror fantasy, horrormance, romantasy, etc. My favorite books are the ones that make me pause to admire a sentence and can make me feel like I’m actually there with the characters.
For fantasy, I’m particularly interested in urban/contemporary fantasy and low fantasy. I won’t shy away from high fantasy, but I believe my strengths would be a better fit for something a bit more grounded.
For horror, I’m not a fan of extreme gore, but other than that, I enjoy all the subgenres. My particular favorites are paranormal, psychological, and folk horror.
For romance, I’m happy with a story that has it as an A or B plot, and I’m also comfortable with all spice levels. Give me your happily ever afters, happy for nows, and tragic endings. However, I’m probably not the best fit for someone with a historical romance since I’m not experienced writing in it.
For speculative fiction, I’m pretty open to it all, although I tend to gravitate toward more upmarket. Give me themes of grief, love, loss, identity…all the things!
Some themes/tropes/elements that I particularly love:
Fairytale/folklore/mythology retellings or reimaginings
Fated mates
Enemies to lovers
Grumpy x sunshine
Unreliable narrator
Found footage
Comes back wrong
Antihero
Morally gray characters
