MSWL
Most importantly, queer, trans, and disabled stories! I'd love some acespec, he/him lesbians, t4t, anything of that nature! When it comes to the disability aspect, I'd love representation of visible disability from visibly disabled authors!
Queer and trans Muslims written by queer and trans Muslims PLEASE!!
High Fantasy with a dark twist; the more horrifying, the better - I'd prefer fantasy with some monsters and corruption. If your fantasy has any historical or mythological elements, please send, especially if it's from a traditionally underrepresented culture and identity. I do ask that if it's Greek or Roman, it's well-researched. I am a Classicist.
Gothic Horror is what I'm currently on submission with, and it was my BA and MA theses (along with Classics). I'd specifically prefer some interpretation of the racialized and disabled "Other". Think less gothic romantasy, and more actual horror. I'm open to a gothic horrormance if the romance is the horror!
Literary Fiction is what I lean into and know best. If you have Lit Fic of any kind and it fits more speculative elements with the queer and disabled rep, please send it!! I'm especially drawn to historical lit fic.
I love dark and difficult fiction, so long as it's not done for the "sake of it being dark". I don't want shock value. I want explorations of heavy topics (save for those mentioned in my anti-MSWL), and if it helps to think of it as "dead dove", then that would prob be a good starting point!
Pro-violent revolution, anti-colonial, the systems cannot be reformed, they must be burnt to the ground!!
Characters are valued more than the plot.
Friendship is just as important as romance.
Actually morally grey main characters--I like my queers doing bad things for what they think is the right reason!
Corruption arcs, villains being hot (and right, sometimes), and general messiness!
As a hybrid self-pub and traditional author, I'm more than willing to take on any author, whether they would like to self-pub, go traditional, or try a hybrid route!
