Stephanie Kim Johnson is a second generation biracial Korean American. Born and raised in California, she’s currently based in Madrid with her husband, son, and dog. Stephanie writes speculative, fantasy, and horror stories, usually with a focus on the immigrant experience and/or mental health. A professionally-trained opera singer turned author, she’s fascinated by the melodramatic moments of everyday life. She loves to explore the many complexities of the human psyche and uses fantastical, speculative or horror elements to examine them. Stephanie is represented by Naomi Davis at BookEnds Literary and is currently on submission with a YA contemporary horror.

Stephanie is passionate about empowering new authors to tell the stories that they want to tell, especially those from marginalized backgrounds. Stephanie is interested in mentoring all things fantasy, speculative or horror in Young Adult, New Adult, and Adult. She is even more excited if there are any mythological or folklore elements involved. Send her your messy, morally-complex characters, speculative fiction genre blends, or unexpected narrative story structures.
